Namaste guys

I am so thrilled to introduce Suchismita Chatterjee , as a guest designer for our blog as well as Site www.artsomecraft.com. I happened to come across her work on Facebook and it swept me off my feet , I am one of her biggest fans and when I asked her she graciously agreed to design for us. I must say her new project is going to blow your minds!!

over to Suchismita..
Hello there, friends!

It's a cold and drizzly monsoon morning here in Hyderabad and I have the perfect little mini album to share with you before I head to work--it is all things old-worldly and charming. It exudes the scent of warm and indulgent grandmums with their sewing boxes which were often upcycled chocolate or cookie tins--containing a lifetime of ephemera, not always to do with sewing strictly. :)

I have been in love with Kaisercraft ever since I started crafting, and when Ashmita Roy of Artsomecraft sent over two fabulous Kaisercraft collections for me to work on--well, (to use the cliche) she had me at "hello!". I would obviously like to mention here that I absolutely adore Ashmita's creative style and when she said she was about to start a store, I jumped with joy! I am thrilled to be creating for her brand. Do check out Artsomecraft.com for fabulous craft supplies.

So here it is, my first guest DT project ever!
(Yay!)

And here are the rest of the stills:

I have kept off flowers and lace for this album (you can imagine how tough that must have been for me!) because I wanted the papers to take centerstage. They are lovely papers and look gorgeous even without embellishment. On the cover are stickers and alpha from the sticker sheet--the dressform you see on the top right hand corner is from a separate pack of vintage stickers.

I created four page units. The style is similar to Ginger's 'Twas the night before Christmas mini album (linked under my Youtube video)--if you follow my blog, you know by now how much I LOVE that page style. This time around, though, I wanted a smaller album so I scaled the pages down to 4x5 inches from the original 5x6 inches that Ginger teaches us. And I sealed the flap in to form a top-loading pocket :)

The Fabriano Elle Erre cardstock in Onice (also from Artsomecraft) suited these papers well. The cardstock is just the right weight for interactive pages--it is thick enough to hold shape, and not too thick for complex page builds. I used American Crafts textured cardstock on most projects until now, and I love that too--but it is so much easier to find more colors in Fabriano on www.artsomecraft.com.

Here are detailed pics of the page spreads (please excuse the tools, my display stand is not ready yet...meh):

The front inside cover has a clear acetate pocket (upcycled packaging) which holds a library pocket insert. I show the flip through in my project share video. This insert was inspired by Papercrafter45 on Youtube. I modified it considerably though--some of it by design and some by accident :D I will link the tutorial on my Youtube channel.

I inked around the edges using Ranger's Distress Ink in Antique Linen--I've had this ink pad for a while but this is the first time I used it for an album--guess it's the Onice cardstock base which suited the color well :)

Made a vertical waterfall for the back inside cover.

Here's a picture of the album with all the tags and the insert.

Here's how the insert folds out:

Ohh, those vintage roses...and the lovely ladies too <3

So that was my Kaisercraft Needle and Thread interactive mini album for Artsomecraft.com.

Loved this pattern on the backk....

Hope you guys liked this project share. Do leave your comments below--I'd love to hear from you. :)

More soon!

Xoxo

Suchi

PS: Sorry about the dull pictures--we have had overcast skies all weekend. :/
